Market Highlight 30.10.2026

The U.S Department of Commerce said on Thursday that U.S gross domestic product (GDP) grew by +3,4% in Q3. The report was the final major economic data release before next Tuesday’s midterm elections. The latest figures reinforced the view that, despite tariffs, tighter controls on immigrant labor, and elevated energy prices, the U.S economy continues to outperform many other major economies. Strong growth combined with high inflation suggests that the Federal Reserve (FED) may need to continue raising interest rates to contain price pressures. Consumer spending, the main driver of the world’s largest economy, grew by 3,8% in Q3. Consumers increased spending on goods including automobiles and parts, furniture and household appliances, clothing, as well as services such as healthcare, food services, and accommodation. Spending on imported goods increased by more than 25% from a year earlier, partly due to purchases of foreign semiconductors. Overall, net imports reduced U.S GDP growth by 3,3%.

The U.S Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) Price Index rose by 0,5% in September, following a 0,3% increase in August. Excluding food and energy, core PCE inflation increased by 0,3% in September and by 3,1% over the past 12 months. The increase underscored the persistent inflation risks facing the FED. The FED decided to keep its policy rate unchanged on Wednesday this week, but is expected to raise rates again at its next meeting in December.
Interbank USD/VND declined from 25.855 early Thursday and closed the day at 25.825, pressured by a 0,2% drop in the USD Index following the

U.S Central Bank’s decision to keep interest rates unchanged. The SBV raised the central rate sharply by VND 13, corresponding to an effective daily ceiling of 26.926.
