Market Highlight 25.09.2026

The development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is on track to become the largest investment boom in U.S economic history, far exceeding the funding devoted to other major infrastructure projects such as railroads, the interstate highway system, and internet infrastructure. According to the latest estimates, total investment in data centers and related AI infrastructure is expected to reach 10,3 trillion USD between 2025 and 2032. This would be equivalent to an average of 3,6% of GDP per year. Never before has the U.S economy been so dependent on the expansion of a single industry. This investment wave is reshaping virtually every sector of the economy, creating hundreds of thousands of jobs and generating new billionaires. However, it also creates significant risks, as a large share of the investment is financed through debt. A sudden downturn could therefore generate substantial shocks across the broader U.S economy.

According to the latest estimates from Goldman Sachs, investment in AI in the U.S is expected to reach 1,9% of GDP in 2026. The late-19th-century railroad boom was the last time the development of a new industry accounted for a larger share of the economy. FED Chair Kevin Warsh said borrowing by major corporations is one of the factors contributing to higher long-term interest rates. Demand for equipment used in data centers, particularly memory chips, is creating shortages and pushing technology-product prices higher. Import prices for computers, peripheral equipment such as hard drives, and semiconductors in August were more than 20% higher than in the same period of 2025.

Interbank USD/VND edged lower by around VND 20 yesterday and closed the day at 25.995. The domestic market is currently being driven more by foreign currency supply and demand than by movements in the USD Index.
