Market Highlight 13.11.2025

The White House stated late Tuesday that two key Government reports on inflation and the labor market for October may not be released due to difficulties in data collection. The six-week U.S Government shutdown has disrupted the publication of crucial economic data that Wall Street and policymakers rely on to assess the health of the American economy. The monthly employment report is among the most closely watched indicators published by the Government. The absence of recent official economic reports has forced markets to turn to alternative sources, including private-sector surveys and estimates. These reports suggest that the U.S economy continues to be weighed down by weak hiring activity and a potential rise in layoffs - most notably, the elimination of tens of thousands of white-collar jobs at major corporations.

Volatility in global financial markets may increase in the coming days as the prolonged U.S Government shutdown is expected to end soon, paving the way for a backlog of economic data releases. The Japanese yen fell to near-record lows against the euro and hit its weakest level in 9 months against the USD on Thursday, after Prime Minister stated that she wanted the Bank of Japan to slow the pace of rate hikes. However, the yen’s sharp depreciation could force the BOJ to act, potentially leading to an additional 0,25% rate increase in December.

Domestically, the interbank USD/VND exchange rate climbed above 26.350 on Tuesday for the first time in more than three weeks, closing the day at 26.355. The State Bank of Vietnam continued to raise the central reference rate, adding VND 11 yesterday after an increase of about VND 12 the previous day. The market is expected to trade around the new support level of 26.350 today.
